Transportation

Getting to the Bill Miller’s Castle

All wedding festivities on
Saturday, September 13th will take place at Bill Miller’s Castle in Branford, CT. For guests driving in, there is ample parking available at the venue.

For guests staying at (or traveling from) the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, round-trip shuttles will be provided.

  • Shuttles to the venue will depart from in front of the Omni at 3:40 PM.

  • Shuttles back to the hotel will depart from Bill Miller’s Castle at 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM.

Getting to Branford / New Haven

  • New Haven and Branford are accessible from several airports:

    • Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN): Frequent domestic flights from select airports; just minutes from downtown.

      • Note: Although they’re quickly expanding at Tweed, we recommend avoiding Avelo Airlines when flying into New Haven, as Avelo is the primary airline operating ICE deportation flights today. Most travelers in Connecticut are actively boycotting the airline.

    • Bradley International (BDL): Located near Hartford, about 50 miles away.

    • New York, Boston, & Providence airports: Approximately 1.5–2.5 hours by car or train.

  • New Haven is a major stop along the Northeast corridor:

    • From NYC: Metro North trains run from Grand Central or Harlem-125th to New Haven’s Union Station (1 mile from the Omni) and sometimes State Street Station (0.5 mile from the Omni).

      • If heading to the venue from NYC, we do not recommend taking the train to Branford. Instead, get off in New Haven and order an Uber/Lyft or grab the shuttle from the Omni Hotel.

    • From Boston, Providence, DC, Philadelphia, etc.: Amtrak services Union Station directly.

  • For guests driving in:

    • The Omni offers valet and covered self-parking, with both metered and garage options available throughout downtown New Haven.

    • Bill Miller’s Castle provides ample parking for all guests.

    • Rideshares like Uber and Lyft are easy to request in New Haven; they’re also available in Branford, though wait times may be longer.

Activities

Whether you’re in town for a night or making a weekend of our wedding, there’s plenty to explore, eat, and enjoy in New Haven, Branford, and along the Connecticut shoreline.

We’ve curated a list of local and personal favorites to help you make the most of your visit!

  • New Haven is the (appropriately named) pizza capital of the world. Like many other couples with great taste, Noah and David spent many date nights at Pepe’s - so be sure to grab a pie before you leave town!

    • Definitive Pizza Ranking (in order):

      • Frank Pepe Pizzeria (157 Wooster St.)

      • Sally’s Apizza (237 Wooster St.)

      • Modern Apizza (874 State St.)

    • Lobster Rolls (a David Anctil staple): The Lobster Shack in Branford

    • Cocktails & Bites: Ordinary, Elm City Social, or 116 Crown

    • Oysters & Seafood: Shell & Bones (upscale on the water) and Lenny’s (beachy)

    • Coffee & Pastries: Willoughby’s, Blue State, and Maison Mathis

    • Breweries: East Rock Brewing or Stony Creek Brewery

    • Food Truck Paradise: A row of local (mostly taco) trucks along Long Wharf by I-95 (and more importantly, the IKEA).

    • Sanctuary Kitchen: A mission-driven kitchen where refugee and immigrant chefs host pop-ups and cooking classes.

  • Though small, New Haven is an arts and culture hub in the Northeast. Some favorites in and around the area are:

    • Yale Art Gallery & Yale Center for British Art - Free world-class museums in the heart of Yale’s campus

    • Yale Peabody Museum – Recently reopened, filled with dinosaur skeletons, meteorites, and more

    • Beinecke Rare Book Library - for the vibes if nothing else, a glowing cube of translucent marble

    • College Street Music Hall - LCD Soundsystem is playing Thursday and Friday nights of wedding weekend!

  • Check out some of our favorite spots!

    • East Rock Park – Walk or drive to the summit for beautiful views of New Haven

    • East Rock Neighborhood – Tree-lined streets, brownstones, and cute cafés

    • The Branford Point & Shoreline Greenway Trail – Great for a slow morning or breezy afternoon

    • Thimble Islands Tour – Cruise through pink granite islands from charming Stony Creek harbor

    • Day Trip Towns:

      • Mystic (~1 hour) - Pure New England magic: aquarium, seaport village, and of course Mystic Pizza

      • Guilford & Madison – Beachy towns with boutiques, antique stores, and marshland walks
